What is a Building Energy Rating (BER)?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) is an official calculation of the energy performance of a property. It is based on a scale from A to G, where A-rated homes are the most energy-efficient and G-rated homes are the least efficient.

    Why Get a BER Certification?

Beyond compliance, a BER provides a strategic advantage for homeowners in the modern Irish market.

    Legal

A BER is compulsory for all homes being sold or rented in Ireland, and for newly constructed dwellings before occupancy.

    Access SEAI Grants

To qualify for home energy grants - insulation, heat pumps, or solar panels - you must have a valid assessment issued.

    Lower Mortgage Rates

Many Irish banks offer "Green Mortgages" with reduced interest rates for homes that attain a B3 rating or higher.

    Reduced Running Costs

Your BER rating indicates the overall energy efficiency of your home and highlights where upgrades could improve performance and long-term energy efficiency.

    A Tailored Upgrade Plan

Alongside your BER certificate, you’ll receive an Advisory Report with tailored advice on making your home more energy efficient, allowing you to focus on upgrades that improve comfort, reduce bills, boost value, and achieve a better BER rating.
